Day care advocates want promised funding from the federal government as soon as possible.
The funding was announced months ago in the federal budget, but the money has to move through the provincial government to the day care facilities.
Premier Bernard Lord has yet to sign on to the deal because he want to ensure some of the money is set aside to help parents who choose to stay at home with their children.
Day care advocates have met with Federal Liberals from New Brunswick to discuss ways of finalizing a deal with the province.
Janet Towers, who runs the YM/YWCA day care in Saint John, said that New Brunswick needs the federal deal now.
"We've had papers that have been done…that rated New Brunswick very low in the quality of childcare," she said, "and I think it would only move our sector forward and it would also give a good base for our families and our children in New Brunswick."
