Parents searching for day care for their children will soon be able to visit an Ontario government website flagging centres with problems, the province announced in response to reports of deplorable conditions at numerous day cares.
The website, which will be up in several months, will detail a day-care centre's history and current licensing status. The government might post inspection reports as well.
Minister of Children and Youth Services Mary Anne Chambers made the announcement Monday following a local newspaper report citing incidents of children left unattended, forced to play in filthy conditions and eating food from mice-infested kitchens.
