Local daycare advocates launched a website yesterday asking parents seeking available and affordable childcare to lobby federal and provincial politicians.
The website will also be used to track daycare needs across Ontario by having parents post their postal codes, said Catherine Fife, co-ordinator for the Child Care Action Network of Waterloo Region.
"We want to gather the real picture of who has access to child care and who can afford it," Fife said. Subsidized child care in the region, and across Ontario, could be facing cuts next year.
The website, launched yesterday in Waterloo by the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care, is www.waitingforchildcare.ca.
