The provincial government is granting three groups in the Northwest a total of almost $1.4 million to create new child care spaces.
The money is going to the Kermode Friendship Society and Rock Christian Community in Terrace and the Gitanmaax Band Council at Hazelton.
A news release announcing the grants says the Kermode Friendship Society will create 62 child care spaces, using its almost $500-thousand grant.
The Rock Christian Community is getting $380-thousand for 56 spaces.
And the Gitanmaax Band will create 34 spaces, using $500-thousand.
In all, the government has announced $8.2 million for 26 organizations around the province.
