Description:
CCCF's National Statement on Quality Child Care was published in 1991 and one amendment was made in 1992. Since that time, the National Statement has remained a popular resource, particularly for early childhood development college programs. With the expertise of Gillian Doherty as author and with the support of a review committee some of whom participated in the development of the original statement, CCCF has developed a new draft version of the National Statement.
The new draft describes a vision of quality child care that applies in all service delivery models. It begins with a summary of the nine components that may be used as a one-page document and continues with more in-depth information on each of the nine areas: ELCC practitioners; collaborative partnerships with children's families; indoor and outdoor physical and learning environments; a purposeful learning program; an ELCC environment that supports the rights of children; a supported workforce; leadership at the program level; administrative practices at the program level; and an effective infrastructure.
