Description:

The Canadian Child Care Federation conference Set Sail for Quality on an Ocean of Caring was held on June 16-17, 2007 in Halifax, Canada. Prior to the conference (June 15) a pre-conference session Broadening and Deepening Our Understanding of Quality: Working Toward Inclusion and Equity was offered. The session was sponsored by the School of Early Childhood Education, Ryerson University, Toronto and the School of Child and Youth Care, University of Victoria, B.C. This one-day conference session featured five keynote speakers and six workshop presenters.

Conference presenters raised critical questions about how we can understand quality beyond definitions of accountability, accreditation, quality assurance, and rating scales. In understanding quality, presenters stressed the importance of taking into account different voices, perspectives and experiences and of providing evidence of inclusive and equitable outcomes in the everyday experiences and participation of children, early childhood educators and families.

The table of contents lists and provides links to the presenters' power point presentations and/or lecture notes. Included as well is Dr. Moss' keynote presentation at the full CCCF conference on June 16, 2007.
