The Global Gender Gap Report 2015

The Global Gender Gap Report ranks 145 economies according to how well they are leveraging their female talent pool, based on economic, educational, health-based and political indicators.

With a decade of data, this year’s edition of the Global Gender Gap Report – first published in 2006 – shows that while the world has made progress overall, stubborn inequalities remain. 

Facts and figures from the report:

• 2,600,000,000 – The combined population of the three countries with the lowest female-male ratio at birth: China, Armenia & India
• 2006 – The year when men’s average pay was the same as women’s today
• 88% – The amount of the gender gap closed by Iceland, the world’s most gender equal nation
• 118 – The number of years it will take to close the gender gap entirely
• 50% – More female ministers worldwide than in 2006
• 24 – The number of countries where the gender gap in education has stagnated or widened since 2006
• 4% – the amount of the global gender gap that has been closed since the Forum began measuring it in 2006

Canada ranked 30 out of 145 countries and attained a score of 0.740/1.00 on its level of equality between men and women.
