ABOUT THE SUMMER INSTITUTE:
The occupational standards describe the core knowledge and skills administrators, managers, directors and supervisors need to do their job effectively. They represent best practices in the administration of early childhood settings.
Child Care Human Resources Sector Council Executive Director, Diana Carter will introduce the occupational standards for childcare administrators.
Students will exchange perspectives on a broad range of issues relating to the judgments, knowledge and skills needed for leadership in the Early Childhood Education field. Students will gain information and skills through in-class discussions, videos and presentations, reporting on experiences gained through their own experiences as well as by guest speakers who are specialists in such areas as: Governance, Finance, Family and Community Relations, Human Resource Management, Licensing and Regulation, Labour Relations, Pedagogy and Early Childhood Educator Professionalism.
PARTICIPANTS:
The target audience will be current and future child care leaders and administrators, post secondary trainers and government licensing specialists, current students as well as alumni Bachelor of Arts, Developmental Studies and/or Advanced Diploma in Leadership in Early Childhood Care and Education. Participants may elect to take this Institute for university credit or for interest/audit.
