The Community of Black ECEs Presents: Addressing Anti-Black Racism in Early Childhood Education

Location:
Online ,
CA
Event date:
15 Oct 2020 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Organized and led by the Community of Black Early Childhood Educators (CoBECEs) and supported by the AECEO, this two-part panel offers an important and necessary dialogue on anti-Black racism in early childhood in Ontario. We acknowledge that for Black people across Ontario this conversation is not new, but for many folks in our sector it may be. All are welcome to attend.

We are honoured to create a space for our panelists Dr. Evelyn Kissi, RECE, Bernice McLeod, RECE, and Dr. Fikile Nxumalo to share their knowledges and experiences with us. Moderated by Nicole Cummings-Morgan, RECE, B.ASc, the two-sessions will engage us in considering how anti-Black racism is experienced by children, families, and educators, what are the challenges and opportunities to resist anti-Black racism in early childhood, and how might educators take up anti-racist practice in their settings.

Please note, as this is a two-part panel discussion, registration ensures your space at both the October 15th and October 29th sessions and participants may not register for only one session. We have provided pay-what-you-can options which we hope reflect our current context. We are grateful to the Fondation du Grand Montréal for their contribution in support of this two-part panel discussion. This allows all registration fees to be donated to Black-led Community Organizations chosen in collaboration with the CoBECEs and the panelists.
